Nordic Cyber Series 2019
Nordic Post event write up by seQure world’s Technology Writer, Paula Magal.
The Nordic region is taking the lead of the digital race. 99% of Norwegians are online, Denmark and Finland have the highest rates of business digitalisation in Europe, and Sweden has the highest number of connected gadgets per inhabitants in the world1. But at the Nordic Cyber Series Summit, attendees were well aware that this is only an advantage if proper emphasis is placed on the region’s cyber security.
It was 8am in Copenhagen when the Radisson Hotel started filling up with Information Security professionals from all corners of Scandinavia. CISOs, CIOs, Heads of IT and VPs of Information Security gathered with one goal in mind: join forces to better safeguard the region’s organisations and assets from cyber threats.
“This summit is a really good place where to get an update on a variety of cyber security topics and meet relevant people in the industry.” – Head of IT at Post Nord.
In between roundtables, panel discussions and networking breaks, attendees shared their impressions live from the summit with the Nordic Cyber Series Showcase Page. Popular highlights included:
• A keynote presented by Antonio Martiradonna, CISO at Orkla, exploring the new business skills every CISO needs (and how the role constantly evolves to keep pace with an ever-changing cyber security landscape);
• A group discussion on the importance of labelling cyber incidents appropriately (and what characteristics most of them share), moderated by David Heed, Network & Security Service Program Manager at Sunet;
• A presentation filled with practical insights on finding the components of an effective security architecture (and how to control and measure them), hosted by Christian Heinel, Technical Manager at Cisco Northern Europe.
“There was a good range of topics in the agenda balancing technical solutions and governance aspects of information security. From a CISO perspective, it was an excellent mix.” – CISO at Ikano Bank.
Lively networking breaks were unanimously high-points during which all attendees gathered to share their first-hand experiences with peers and get a comprehensive impression of the industry across the region.
“This event is great because there is a relatively small group and we have the chance to get some quality talks with everyone. Approaching every CISO on an individual basis I’ve gained deep insights into what Nordic companies are looking for and what challenges they are facing today.” – Security Strategist, Forcepoint.
2019’s steering committee members, speakers, delegates and sponsors made Nordic Cyber Series 2019 a success – Thank you! 2019 sponsors: Cisco, Forcepoint, Qualys, Cisco Umbrella, Foritnet, Atos, LogPoint, Venafi, Arrow, Akamai, Recorded Future, Digital Shadows, and Cybereason.
